Aurélie FRADIN - Pétillante !

Auteur : Kris | 01-16-2012

What I like about Aurélie, is that she loves objects that tell a story, from which the design seems logical.

Her personal style, since graduating from one of the best design schools (Boulle in Paris) is to “design logical products, which are practical and have a touch of poetry about them”. She also likes to add a graphic element to her designs which is her signature; oftentimes a sparkling element in an unsuspecting place…..”j’adore”!

Aurélie loves the design process from reflecting, noting ideas, sketching, refining, and quickly jumping into modeling. “Once all the research is done, I spend a lot of time experimenting with textures, materials, patterns, stamps and I quickly need to get my hands in there”.

“To conceive an object from an idea into something concrete in its’ finished state, then being able to use it is just wonderful”.

Her preferred medium is ceramics and she designed ‘soliflore Pedestaly’ which is a collection of ceramic vases complete with platinum luster to reflect the flowers’ different forms and colors.

My personal favorite, which reminded me of a vase I purchased in Korea, is the tea set ‘THEière’ and bowls which are of simple design. A tea set to actually use and design a room around:

The celadon color is magnificent. I would welcome this set as a star piece to design a spectacular sitting area, posed on a black cherry wood coffee table, accompanied by celadon velvet chairs and silk cushions, taupe linen napkins, near an iron fireplace for friends to gather…. Now there is a story from a single design piece!

And your next medium Aurélie?

Leather! ….a challenge indeed and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with.

Must-haves in your dream home?

“crown moulding, iron balcony, antique/built-in soap dispenser and “garde-manger”

Well done Mademoiselle, the sky is the limit!
