Manon Beriot - A young Cocotte who pushes her limits !

Manon comes from a very artistic family. She incarnates an enormous desire to create, especially with her mentor Daniel Adric, scenographer in Paris, with whom she has worked since 2008.

« It is a sketch that I did in the heart of the scenographers atelier in Paris, for whom I’ve been working. It is the portrait of my mentor, Daniel Adric, which I made for him at the end of last summer. »

I’ll let Manon give us an example of what it is like to work for Daniel ; It’s a bit like a lighter version of the film «The Devil Wears Prada» :

« Three days prior, Daniel receives an urgent call ; we have to prepare the scenography for a photo shoot at the Place de la Concorde with Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, for Vogue’s 90th anniversary.

The photo shoot is planned for two days, with varied themes : bikers, snowy winter, beauty prepping and evening attire.

We were to take care of the costumes, décor, accessories and special effects. We had to think of every last object necessary to create the ambiance for each theme. We ran from the antique shops to the hardware and motorcycle shops… It was a true mise en scène !

Second step : we had to install it all on the Place de la Concorde to create a temporary decor.

But that is not all….during the shoot we were constantly changing and installing each ambiance for each photo, and attempt to best create the desired atmosphere for the photographers.»

What are you working on now ?
«I am working on sports that require protective wear such as combat sports, American football, and skiing. I’m also working around the universe of body building.»

One of her works that I prefer is of this striking swimmer ! (as swimming is one of my favourite sports, I admit to being a bit biased)

Where are you going in the future Manon ?
« In the future I want to work with several subjects, so that I may illustrate, work with images and also create voluminous design works (via sewing for example). Or I would like to continue working with scenography, whilst working with video and photography.»

Manon likes :
• To work on sports-oriented projects and body protection.
• To admire a diversity of artists in various domains.
• To draw designs in large format, in pencil or paint, sculp with varying materials like fabric, wire mesh,and work with collage and photography. 
• To change the medium and support, going with the flow of her ideas within a certain time period !

She is already a great consumer of art & cinema :

«Within cinematography I am a passionate follower of all Almodovar’s films. I love the Director Wajdi Mouawad, the collective works of Pleix, Julien Pacaus, Simon Evans, Olaf Breuning, III Studio, Tanadori Yokoo and also the work of Frida Khalo whom I greatly admire.»
