Amylee - All Glam

Auteur : Ariane | 04-02-2011

Having worked closely with fine materials, texture and patterns in a fashion house previously, Amylee uniquely expresses herself through contemporary art.

The bold, sensual patterns play off one another in colourful harmony and reveal Amylee’s “Art-fashion” energy. You get the feeling that the painting is bursting with positive energy, creating an ‘anti-depressive’ environment!

Simplicity and exuberance create a mélange of Pop art culture and Baroque style, mixed with haute couture and graphic novels.

Amylee plays with “glamour”, while highlighting femininity within the fashion, haute couture world.

From a photo placed on the canvas and scanned fabric as a backdrop, Amylee gets to work creating her universe. Step by step she ads paint, glues swatches, adds different textures and high gloss.

Each work of art is unique and hand painted.

Amylee is seriously dedicated to her work and refuses to paint on canvas from photos for her orders. She prefers to focus on the environment in which the work of art will reign.

Speaking of canvas, that is certainly how I met Amylee as she is a blogger like us!

We don’t cover the same subjects, but share the same passion of working and blogging seriously and visually!

In your opinion, what do you think a woman’s role is in interior design?
Women are known and recognized for their fascination with color, patterns and motifs. Tricia Guild is living proof of this, and she is also my guru !

Do you read blogs?
Oh yes, very regularly ! I am a blogger, I comment on others’ and share as well. You can definitely qualify me as a true blogger.

Which artists do you appreciate most?
My favorite are obviously Klimt, Moreau and Manet !
I also love Patricia Urquiola’s design work.

Where do you hang out?
Home decor shops, antique shops or the paint aisles at BHV. When I’m alone, you’ll generally find me strolling or just dreaming in one of these places.

What don’t you like in interior design?
Rustic / French country is not for me and I escape when there are too many knick-knacks on shelves. Anything aside from minimalism stresses me terribly.

If you were a place?
Le Roussillon region for the color of the earth and to relax and take in the ciccada songs and the smell of lavander.

If you were a color?
Orange for the positive energy that it exudes.

If you were a piece of furniture?
The “Bouquet” armchair by Tokujin Yoshioka, made from hundreds or multi-colored flower petals.

You never leave home without…?
My IPhone, i am a daily tweeter – daily even and too addicted already ! I am definitely Twitter-dependent, but I am trying to quit!

And your dream home?
A villa in Provence. It’s a strong vision with which I associate comfort, security and well-being in the sun.

Your current projects?
I am currently working with interior decorators, by painting with their colors and scenography in mind. I am also seeking more work internationally.

What are the latest trends, in color and texture that move you?
Color trends are cyclic like within the fashion world. Spring is here so I’ll go with apple green, indigo blue, and fushia. The trio will surely inspire me within the next few days.

What does the word “cocotte” evoke for you?
A cocotte is a woman with personality, many desires and one who doesn’t mind showing it.

Do you have any other cocottes that you would like to recommend ?
It’s love at first sight with Aurélie’s handbags - www.balianse.com
