Matchless Tsé & Tsé!

Thanks to the “Cherished Czech casserole-dishes”, I dared to contact their muses: Tsé & Tsé.
One quick e-mail and they offer to meet!!! Excellent. I started my first live interview with THE Tsé & Tsé…. There are worse starts in life.
On June 23, I was very moved to be welcomed by this daring duo, despite their international fame spanning over 20 years, within their creatively rich universe. I was amazed at the more than one hundred edited pieces in their name without counting all the furniture design when collaborating with the likes of Habitat, Sentou, Astier de Villate, and the multiple décor and scenography projects to which they’ve left their mark.

Their story begins at the end of their studies at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle, in Paris where Catherine and Sigolène designed jewellery made of rubber, in a small atelier. They attempted limited edition and private sales to help finance new ideas, to no avail.
By a stroke of luck…
They fall upon a great deal and bought a lot of laboratory test tubes, and they rebounded by creating April’s vase in 1991.

So, thinking far from raw feminist thoughts that I don’t adhere to, I asked a question:
Is ‘feminine intuition’ the vehicle to your united values?
In all evidence: yes, they both replied in harmony
In a Parisian courtyard, their creative agency more resembles an idea box full of prototypes, colours, mixed messages, than a tidy office….That alone makes the novice in me dizzy, and yet amongst this merry chaos they are able to organize, create, develop, and build incredible and improbable products.
Their first exposition in 1993 at the Sentou gallery launched their « success story »

Each creation has its’ story, a sweet name that makes you smile….
Then follows the lazy vase, a glass ball attached to a steel cable, the starving dishes, the famous cubist fairy lights, the lying mirror,….I let you discover their website or boutique……

Because the “Cherished Czech casserole-dishes » unite all the elements that a Cocotte looks for today…that is to say, Yes to healthful and practical cuisine, for our honeys or our kids, Yes to the pleasure of cooking with a cocotte that doesn’t weigh 3 tonnes !
The 3 sizes accommodate all sorts of dishes and quantities, nothing sticks while busying yourselves with other things and food looks nice served in-dish with the chic blue and black finish that contrasts well with curried carrots….
And here you have it, that’s settled, sworn by a Cocotte, and now for you to test and spread the word…And for the anecdote, it’s only because Catherine and Sigolène have personally tested them over the years that they decided to design them even if it wasn’t such an easy endeavour…(another haphazard success story!)
What I wanted to express after meeting them, is that these girls truly resemble many active Cocottes like us that juggle with life’s pleasures and constraints. They show us through their savoir-faire that when designing products, there is a story, putting people and sentiments first, all like their imaginative product names.

Tsé & Tsé have successfully created and combined a mixed universe of poetry, practical experience and humour to add happiness to our daily lives, Bravo!
