My first love for a painting

Auteur : Axelle | 07-24-2010

It all happened when I was on vacation in Ile de Ré (France), in 2000, at the end of a walk in St-Martin-en-Ré. My husband and I fell for a painting in the window at the Galerie Glineur.

A rounded, pink dresser within a pink backdrop, this painting reminded me of Botero. White daisies liven the atmosphere and add softness to this piece of art.

The artist, Partricia Simsa, and this particular painting were a part of the collection shown in Paris, Place des Vosges. You may find more of her work on this site.

It was love at first sight, and seeing as though we didn’t have the finances to buy it at the time, we borrowed from family to not leave empty handed.

For 10 years, this painting has been part of our home, our décor and sits enthroned above the sofa. Everyone fancies the painting that has become part of the family, and with which we will never part!

The painting blends with the décor, throughout the years, despite a change in furniture.

Ever since, friends have also discovered this artist and have found reproductions of Simsa’s cast of characters like café waiters who are very typical of her style.

I later discovered that Patricia Simsa is also a talented sculpteur and brings to life the characters in her paintings.

Patricia is a talented woman, and we only regret that she does not have a website that traces all her works of art.
